Carry millions of photos in your pocket easily with your iPhone + Flickr. Featuring a simple-to-use iPhone-optimized, finger-friendly interface and customized searches, iPhlickr brings the world's photo album to your fingertips.
iPhlickr combines the powers of PHP, HTML, and JavaScript; utilizes Flickr's giant photo selection and extensive API (iPhlickr uses the Flickr API but is not endorsed or certified by Flickr ); and is built from Dan Coulter's amazing phpFlickr. The slick UI is thanks to the brilliant iUI.
1.3.08
Due to the extended time constraints to continue to make iPhlickr the best photo viewing iPhone application, I am now accepting donations to "motivate" myself to continue working to improve iPhlickr. You can donate by clicking the donate button in the right corner of all the "More" pages. Please donate only if you feel this application is worth your money (you can donate any amount you wish but please keep it under a reasonable amount) and to keep iPhlickr free for all to use!
1.3.08
Updated the fullscreen mode to make it a more pleasurable viewing experience (images are centered vertically, only image is on the screen, etc.). Photos look gorgeous!
1.3.08
Added the ability to link to photos, albums, people, groups and more in iPhlickr to send to other users with iPhones (click on the "Share" button).
1.3.08
Fixed issues with some user names that contained certain characters.
1.3.08
Added options when viewing a photo in full screen (just tap the photo to see the controls).
1.3.08
Added more searches to the home page.
1.3.08
Improved stability and optimized queries for betting use over slower connections.
7.15.07
Added the ability to view photos fullscreen inside iPhlickr! Also, added the ability to sort your searches by a variety of parameters.
7.15.07
Added a "Load More" option at the end of all search results, much like in iPhone's built-in YouTube player. I am also looking for somebody to help make an icon for iPhlickr. If you are interested, please contact me.
7.14.07
Rebuilt iPhlickr using the new iUI from Joe Hewitt. Settings page is now more iPhone-like, the UI is more connected and fluid, and the user experience has been improved.
7.9.07
Images are now clickable, but they take you to the Flickr page where they are located. Future plans would allow the picture to be opened fullscreen within iPhlickr, much like the native application. This will do for now..
7.8.07
Overhauled the look and feel to be more like a native iPhone application. I am aware that everybody wants to be able to open pictures full screen, I want it, too! It is coming so stay tuned.
7.4.07
Updated appearance and added a settings page so users can finally change their username and customize how many photos are returned per page.
7.1.07
Fixed some problems with viewing the page on the iPhone.
6.29.07
Everybody (including me!) is getting their hands on their iPhones, so the site is 'officially' live. There are problems with scaling on the iPhone, to be fixed soon.
Get to the top.
Scrolling through a long list of photos and want to quickly get to the top? Tap the topbar of the iPhone (the one with the battery meter and the time) and watch as you are whisked right to the top!
Backwards and forwards.
Looking for an easy way to navigate iPhlickr? Use Safari's built in back and forward arrows. With iPhlickr, they work just as expected.
What's in a name?
Wish you could see the name of a photo? Well just touch and hold the image and the name will appear or view the image in full screen mode by just tapping the photo.
Begone keys!
When you are typing in a search field, save your finger by tapping the "Get Photos" button instead of the "Done" button on the keyboard. Unlike the keyboard's "Done" button, the "Get Photos" button hides the keyboard and submits your search in one tap.
Uploading photos.
Due to limitations of the iPhone, iPhlickr is not able to upload photos from the iPhone to Flickr. However, Flickr offers a simple way to upload photos off your mobile phone. Each user is assigned a unique email address that can be used to upload your photos on the go. Check your address here. I recommend storing this address in your contacts so you can remember it later. Next, go to your photos page on the iPhone, select the photo you wish to upload and choose "Email Photo." Then, select the email address you were given by Flickr from your contacts list. The subject line is used for the title of the photo, and the body for the description. If you wish to give the photo tags, just type 'tags:' (without the quotes) followed by a list of the tags you want associated with your photo, separated by commas (this can be either in the body or subject line). Send the email and check your photos in iPhlickr to see that it made it safely!
Which user name do I use?
With Flickr it can sometimes be confusing which user name is your actual user name. However, there is a way to check what user name you should be using with iPhlickr. First, go to your Flickr page and go to your photos. Then choose any photo and click on it to view it in its own page. Now look to the right of the photo and it should say 'Uploaded by' and then your user name. That is the user name you should use with iPhlickr. Still having problems? Read on or contact support.
Why can't I see my photos?
There are many issues that may be preventing you from seeing your photos through iPhlickr. First, make sure your user name is correct (see above) and your photos are marked as public. Currently iPhlickr does not require your password, so only public photos can be viewed. Secondly, make sure your photos are marked as "safe." Flickr reviews all accounts to make sure they are not malicious or posting bad content. You can check the status of your account at http://www.flickr.com/account. Lastly, make sure you have not opted out of API searches. iPhlickr uses Flickr's API, so if you have opted out of this service, your photos are not searchable. Check the status of your account at http://flickr.com/account/prefs/optout. If you still cannot see your photos, please contact support and we will attempt to resolve the issue.
